Sunset Hills, MO, Patients Love Us
"By far, the BEST experience I’ve ever had at a medical office. The staff/doctor was so accommodating, and made me feel super welcome and comfortable. At one point during my visit I told them I felt like I was at a spa! They treat their patients so well and give you their undivided attention. I was dreading this visit, but it was actually enjoyable! Dr. Schlaikjer was very informative and took his time, he was funny (as well as the staff), and I know I can trust him, which can be hard to find when it comes to healthcare. They truly, truly care about their patients, and I will definitely be back." Toni Brinker

Our Featured Services
Treatment for Gum Disease
Over time, gum disease can cause problems like loose teeth, sensitivity, and tooth loss. You can stop gum disease in its tracks by treating it in its earliest stages with at-home care, receiving a deep cleaning procedure, undergoing LANAP for periodontal regeneration, and more. If gum disease has already caused damage, we have solutions for that, too.
Dental Implants
Has poor periodontal health resulted in a missing tooth or teeth? Dental implants can be placed in your jaw to support restorations like crowns, bridges, and dentures to restore any degree of tooth loss. Our office also offers All-on-4® implants for patients who want a full arch denture, but don't qualify for traditional implants.
Gum Contouring
Though the field of periodontics mainly aims to diagnose and prevent periodontal disease, Dr. Schlaikjer also provides cosmetic procedures. If you have a gummy smile or an asymmetrical gumline, our dentists can use gentle lasers to reshape your gumline, exposing more of your teeth and giving you a symmetrical frame for your smile.

FAQ
What's the difference between a dentist and a periodontist?
While a dentist is a professional who can provide a range of general dental services, a periodontist is a type of dentist who focuses on caring for the supporting structures of the mouth, like the gums and jawbone. Periodontists are typically more qualified than dentists to handle complex cases. Your dentist may even refer you to Dr. Schlaikjer for advanced dental care.
Do you accept insurance?
Our highly trained dentists want everyone to be able to afford the care necessary to maintain their oral health. We are proud to accept most dental insurance plans, but we also offer financing through CareCredit®, CommerceCare™, and LendingClub for patients who are uninsured or have out-of-pocket costs.
How do I maintain my results after my appointment?
Like any procedure with a dentist, our periodontists will provide you with aftercare instructions to maintain your oral health and ensure you get the most out of any dental solution we provide. Our instructions may involve eating a soft food diet, brushing each tooth thoroughly with an at-home routine, and attending regular checkups at our office so we can determine the next steps in your treatment plan.
Receive Comfortable Care With Us
"Dr Schlaikjer is very skilled and it is apparent when you are in his care. Always felt comfortable. Gum graft went super well and exceeded expectations. This sort of stuff is never fun, but if I had to get periodontal work again, I know where I would go." Chris Elbring
